Male gynecologists (we are a vanishing breed by the way) are often still stuck in patriarchal implicit bias and misguided malpractice anxiety, and the many really terrific young female gynecologists have not been well trained in menopause and are not old enough to have to deal with it personally. I highly, highly recommend Dr Jen Gunter and her Substack https://vajenda.substack.com/?r=r0dq&utm_campaign=pub&utm_medium=web for detailed and evidence based menopausal information.

Thanks Timonty! I've followed her. I have a male gynecologist. I changed from two female ones to him because he was highly recommended. He's so easy to talk to and no ego, so I've been lucky.

yes even my P.A. was like let me find a female young progressive endocrinologist for you. The old male guard won't understand what you are looking for..

May I clarify? It's perimenopause where the worst happens and perhaps that's the time for time off work (though I'm not entirely sure I agree with that, am still thinking about it since Ronke suggested it). It's the fluctuations in hormones BEFORE menopause that causes the biggest disturbances.

It really depends. There are women who have debilitating symptoms years after menopause. It also depends on the symptom. The percentage of women who have mental fatigue actually rises to 85% after menopause. So I think it can't be generalized

I get what you mean but I think it depends on everyone. Even in Menopause, I'm suffering from brain fog and hot flash so...who knows.

People are talking about it though. There's a huge revolution going on in menopause visibility. Check out my latest podcast called Hot Menopause Summer. There's also the Menopause Manifesto and so many articles and voices talking about it. It has been a totally opaque topic but now that is changing.
